Editorial guidelines

How SCFinance separates comparison analysis from commercial relationships and keeps Canadian card information reviewable.

Reviewed and updated August 12, 2026

Editorial decisions are independent

Commercial relationships do not determine the comparison score, card order, award eligibility or whether a product is criticized. Editors can include products that do not compensate SCFinance and exclude products that do.

Facts need traceable sources

Credit card facts are synchronized from the Financial Consumer Agency of Canada comparison catalogue and official issuer pages. Each product record stores its source URL and the time it was checked. We distinguish sourced facts from editorial scoring and label preview data outside the card vertical as non-production data.

Corrections and updates

Card terms can change without notice. We refresh the catalogue, preserve timestamps and ask readers to confirm terms with the issuer before applying. Material errors should be corrected in the source data or scoring logic, not patched only in page copy.
